What is the 4AT?

The 4AT is a simple and short (<2 min) delirium detection tool designed for easy and effective clinical use. It does not require special training.

The 4AT has the most formal validation data of any delirium tool, with 31 diagnostic test accuracy studies involving >6000 patients.

The 4AT is one of the most commonly-used tools in practice globally. It is highly sensitive and specific. As well as having excellent validity, the 4AT is also proven in routine care, with high completion rates, and delirium detection at expected clinical rates.

Do I need permission to use the 4AT? No - no permission is required to download and use. This includes use in Electronic Health Records (EHRs) / Electronic Medical Records (EMRs). Just go ahead!
